In the 1980s BMX racing branched off to other BMX related sports. These sports included vert riding, the use of half pipe and quarter pipe ramps, flatland freestyling and street riding. Flatland freestyling introduced some customization to the classic BMX bike, including pegs and adjustments to the frame design. Street riding is a combination of vert and flatland riding and is limited by your imagination and environment.
As the years continued, these sports have evolved and developed even further. Just like the technology, the rider's attitudes and skills have evolved as well. It is amazing the of what individuals can do with the classic 20" BMX design today. As with all things as they get older, there is a feeling of nostalgia and a desire to reconnect with things from the past. Freestyling and BMX is no different. As the sport progresses, there has been a desire to locate and acquire some of those older, vintage BMX bikes from the past.
The big names in the mid to late 1980s were Haro, GT, Hutch, PK Ripper and Mongoose. If you're looking to pick up a older bike or looking to fix up your old school ride with vintage parts, BMXVintage.com will help you locate those hard to find items on eBay.
